Theme and topics for WPCampus 2025

It is more important than ever for the WPCampus community to come together to assess the current state of WordPress in higher education and share ideas, solutions, and a vision towards building our desired future.

This year’s WPCampus is the first time we’re focusing our call for proposals around a specific theme: The Future of WordPress in Higher Education.

We are designing this year’s conference to be more collaborative and discussion-based. We are focused on creating space for collaboration through small group sessions, open discussions, and hands-on workshops.

We’re also excited to share and discuss the results from our soon-to-be-released survey on the State of WordPress in Higher Education.

In support of our theme, we are asking the community to answer the following questions:

  • What does the future of WordPress in higher education look like for you?
  • What functionality do you want for your WordPress websites that does not exist?
  • What big ideas do you have for your WordPress websites for the future?
  • What would you build for or with WordPress if you had the time and resources?
  • What would you change about WordPress to support your needs?

We want you to dream big and share your ideas to gather feedback and generate discussion. Your ideas don’t have to be fully formed or implemented. You don’t have to share a completed project.

We want you to share your vision for the future. We’re not looking for polished projects – just bold ideas.

We are also asking our community to share their functional work on the following topics:

  • Governance management within WordPress
  • Accessibility management within WordPress
  • Implemented design systems
  • Risk management
  • Using WordPress in the classroom
  • Training and support

Do not feel limited by this short list. Let us know if you wish to share your ideas or work around topics that aren’t on this list. This conference is for you. If you have ideas and want feedback, post your request in the WPCampus #planning channel. If you wish to discuss your ideas privately, include that request in your Slack message.

Not in the WPCampus Slack workspace? Our Get involved form will take care of that for you.

Event modality

For this year’s event, we will only select presenters who can attend the event in person.

For several years, we have included the option for remote presenters at our in-person conference. We made this decision because we want the availability and presentation of ideas and information to be inclusive and accessible and not limited to only those with the privilege of travel. We have the technology to support this approach, but the feedback we received from remote presenters and attendees did not support the format.

How to share your ideas if you cannot attend in person

If you can’t attend in person and want to share your ideas, we encourage you to register as a WPCampus presenter and consider presenting in the WPCampus webinar series. We also welcome article contributions from our community members for the WPCampus Community Blog.

Presenter Benefits

Accepted presenters will receive a complementary General Admission ticket and hordes of gratefulness and admiration for your investment in higher education. Also, swag.
